Which operating system on mobile phones is best for you?

Which operating system on mobile phones is best for you?

Choosing a mobile operating system is a big problem. You're buying an entire ecosystem of compatible apps and products when you choose between iOS and Android. This is where decisions become personal.

Apple's iOS is beautiful, simple, and easy to use, and the App Store offers the best selection of apps imaginable. Every aspect of iOS is curated by Apple and it shows.

Android is more open and has fewer rules, which means more customization options, but it also means that app makers and creators can intentionally ignore Google's material design language and do whatever they want, sometimes making Android more unrecognizable and messier. Android is great, as seen on Google's Pixel 4 and 4 XL, but you don't always see it that way.

Since Apple is the only company that makes the iPhone, it also has full control over software updates. As such, iPhone owners always get the latest and greatest iOS experience possible.

Android users don't have that luxury. Unless you have a Pixel device, and very few Android users do, you may have to wait months for software updates.

Software updates contain security fixes that keep your phone safe from malware, viruses, and hackers. Android is the most targeted mobile operating system because it's by far the largest, so this is something to keep in mind when considering phones from brands that have a less than stellar track record of rolling out updates.

Rather, Apple can fix security flaws and ship updated software to all iPhone users immediately. Since users update their software when prompted, most are protected from these very real threats. Apple's iOS also offers full encryption without compromise.
